On March 3, local time, U.S. President Trump stated that reciprocal tariffs would begin to be levied on April 2, and the U.S. 25% tariff on Mexican and Canadian goods would take effect on March 4.

Trump said there was no room for consensus on tariffs on Mexico and Canada. In addition, Trump also said that he would consider reaching a free trade agreement with Argentina.

Trump signed an executive order on February 1, imposing a 25% tariff on products imported from Mexico and Canada, including a 10% tax increase on Canadian energy products. On February 3, Trump announced a 30-day suspension of tariff increases on the two countries and continued negotiations.
